Anthony Elanga named fastest player in Manchester United squad – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag has used the entire pre-season roster in all three games so far to discover his best team once the season starts. He has given opportunities to numerous academy products including Anthony Elanga, Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage.

Elanga was one of the only bright spots of Ralf Rangnick’s interim regime. He scored three goals and assisted a further two times in 27 appearances and became an integral member of the first team squad.

Ten Hag was able to observe the young Swede and even started him ahead Marcus Rashford v Melbourne Victory.

His pace is a weapon the Dutch manager can use according to former United legend Bryan Robson. He told MUTV (via Mirror) that he thinks the 20-year-old is the fastest player in the squad.

That’s quite a compliment when you consider that the Red Devils have Rashford and Sancho in their ranks. This information was passed on to Robson by current Technical Director Darren Fletcher.

“When I spoke to Darren Fletcher, he said that Elanga is probably the fastest at the club.”

Elanga ready to file claim

The Sweden international has already shown that he is fitter than last season and is looking forward to improving his achievements in goals and assists.

The winger has so far been used on the left flank by Ten Hag, his favorite position. He has registered one assist in his three outings.

Robson added: “He has to use that pace and make the right runs. He has to get into the penalty area and score goals. If you get four chances in a game, can you knock out two?”

About three weeks ago, the 20-year-old showed his impressive fitness by nearly breaking a world record while preparing for the season. While doing box jumps, Elanga managed to jump an impressive 63 inches – just over five feet.

He set a new personal best and was close to breaking the world record of American personal trainer Chris Spell who jumped 67 inches.

The fast winger certainly has the raw potential to develop into a star. Ten Hag must nurture and shape him as United enter a crucial and long season and each player will play their part.
