Manchester United have yet to deal with business during the summer transfer window, but supporters could be in for a treat if Erik ten Hag hits his top goals.
After missing out on a central midfielder last summer, key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom have made that a clear priority for Ten Hag’s rebuilding and talks with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong progress over a potential move of more than £75million. United are also looking to bring in a new central defender and a versatile attacking option.
Ajax stars Jurrien Timber and Antony – both known to Ten Hag from his successful reign in Amsterdam – are on the radar in that regard. Christian Eriksen is another high-profile target.

Of course, the Denmark playmaker is available for free this summer after his short contract with Brentford came to an end. Brentford has made an offer to effectively re-sign Eriksen, while former club Tottenham have also expressed an interest in him.
Aside from these items on the agenda, United expect Dean Henderson to move to Nottingham Forest on loan and have therefore been eyeing Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann as a possible replacement. It comes after Henderson didn’t make a single Premier League appearance last season.
If they manage to hit their top goals, United will have to put together a master plan to put those pieces together. It will pose serious questions to Ten Hag, such as how will he be able to use Bruno Fernandes and Eriksen in the same team?
One of those players going deeper is an option, while a change in formation is another if United choose to use a 3-4-2-1 system favored by Chelsea and other Premier Leagues -clubs. Antony and his versatility should also take center stage and Ten Hag is well aware of what the talented Brazilian can add in attacking quarters.
Here are two dream lineups for United to consider next season. Other players eligible for Ten Hag include Victor Lindelof, Fred and Marcus Rashford.
