Driver charged with drink-driving after hydropole collision in South Glengarry

Ontario Provincial Police say a 26-year-old will be banned from driving after a nighttime accident.

Officers were called to a stretch of County Road 2 between Boundary Road and Purcell Road around 3 a.m. Saturday after a driver struck a column of water, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.

County Road 2 was closed between Boundary Road and Purcell Road in South Glengarry Township to allow Hydro One workers to repair the damaged post. The road reopened early Saturday evening.
