Faster Internet Could Come to Walt Disney World

Slow internet and lagging experiences from Walt Disney World guests often experience internet during their visit to the resort. Well, there could be some good news on the way as a permit was filed on May 4 for “Fiber Optic Expansion Phase 1” which could significantly improve the current internet.

Disney has not yet officially confirmed any details regarding this permit or how it might affect the guest experience at Walt Disney World, but it certainly appears to be a step in the right direction.

The permit states that the expiration date will be one year after filing, which in this case will be May 4, 2023, unless an extension is agreed. We therefore hope that work on this fiber optic expansion phase will start soon.

Currently, guests are required to be online with their smartphones for most scheduling services while at Walt Disney World through the My Disney Experience dinner reservation booking app, MagicMobile, and the Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane system.
