Feds Contribute $6.6 Million to Bells Corners Affordable Housing Project

The federal government is funding more than $6.6 million to complete an affordable housing project on the site of the former Christ Church Bells Corners rectory.

This amount is supplemented by $740,000 for fee waivers and development costs from the City of Ottawa and $4 million in funding from the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative.

The building, which has been renamed Hollyer House, is located at 3865 Old Richmond Rd. income families.

Of the building’s 35 units, 10 will be for single women and women with children. On the ground floor of the building will be a community services center with a food cabinet and a community center.

“The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa is a strong supporter of affordable housing and is actively committed to providing new units,” said Shane Parker, bishop of the Anglican Archdiocese of Ottawa, in a press release.

The federal funds will be administered through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. as part of the federal government’s national housing strategy.
