Financial problems due to COVID? Lake County Offers Delinquent Mortgage Assistance

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Lake County is offering assistance to eligible residents who have mortgage arrears, officials announced Tuesday.

The Lake County CV-1 Mortgage Assistance Program allows select households up to $5,000 in delinquent mortgage payments, excluding escrow taxes, made after March 13, 2020, a press release said.

County officials said the money will be paid directly to the mortgage company and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The guidance program is available to residents who meet the following requirements:

  • Head of household must be a US citizen or a permanent resident alien

  • Residence must be the primary residence of the household and located in Lake County, Florida

  • Residence must have a homeowner exemption

  • Household must have experienced financial difficulties due to COVID-19 (i.e. unemployed, understaffed, reduction in working hours or wages)

  • The household income must be equal to or less than 120% of the median income of the area
