When Merlin vowed to reduce her weight and belly fat, her husband dismissed it as yet another unfulfilled promise. However, he was in for a surprise when Merlin slimmed down to a healthy weight in just two months. Merlin, who lives in Washington DC, remembers her weight loss journey and shares her unique exercise pattern and diet. Hailing from Pala in Kottayam, Merlin is based in the United States with her husband and three children. She works there as a QA manager at a leading IT company.
Merlin confesses that desserts and candies have been her weakness. She wouldn’t be bored of the sweet treats. Except for the occasional walk, she never bothered to exercise or had no exercise routine. In addition, three C-sections resulted in a large and flabby abdomen. Although she had tried to lose weight in the past, Merlin gave up because she thought it was a difficult task. This time, however, she was determined and promised herself to lose weight in a healthy way and reduce the belly fat.
Reduce belly fat
Merlin’s greatest wish was to reduce the belly fat that had become 104 centimeters. She joined an online fitness and fat loss group for proper guidance and training. While she was excited to join the group, she wasn’t sure she would continue with the workouts and diet. “Every day that went by, I felt like it might work for me this time. They gave me good instructions on the diet and the workouts. Previously, I had no idea about the calories in the foods I ate or the type of workouts I would need to do to reduce my weight. In addition, I did not know that I had to do specific workouts for each body part to lose weight. I was very happy to be able to contact my trainer online at any time,” says Merlin.
Merlin weighed 66.5 pounds and had a waist circumference of 104 inches when she joined the fat loss group. Within just two months, she was able to lose 9.5 pounds and reached an ideal weight of 57 pounds. Meanwhile, her belly had shrunk to 84 centimeters. Merlin says her husband and children were surprised by her spectacular transformation. They hardly expected her to keep her promise this time, as they had often warned her about her increasing body weight. She is happy that HIIT and resistance training have proven effective for her. Most importantly, Merlin was inspired by the incredible support and encouragement of her husband and children.
Diet and sports
Merlin checked her weight just two months after she started the diet and workouts. Meanwhile, her husband and colleagues hinted that they could see changes. However, Merlin didn’t bother to check her weight or measure her waist circumference. She was surprised to realize that she had lost nearly 10 pounds in just two months. Her initial hesitation gave way to confidence and determination. Now Merlin is brimming with positive energy and excitement.
Merlin says she decided to lose weight when she was diagnosed with health problems. She found that her blood pressure shot up. Not wanting to start lifelong medication, Merlin decided to try to lose weight as a last resort. As she lost weight, her blood pressure returned to normal as well. “We often enjoy kayaking and cycling as a family activity. I was afraid I would miss this one if my weight continued to increase. I thought the difficulty I felt while cycling was some sort of warning. I couldn’t imagine stopping these activities that I enjoy with my family. So the only way was to lose weight. Success came my way when I was determined to work hard. Most importantly, I feel younger and more confident wearing 10 or 15 year old outfits,” Merlin laughs.
