Manchester United compete against Manchester City for Bukayo Saka

Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka to boost their offensive firepower.

According to Fichajes, there is a lot of interest from Manchester United and Manchester City in Bukayo Saka. Arsenal consider the youngster to be one of their key players and new approaches are unlikely to happen in the summer.

Bukayo Saka has become a sensational footballer after making steady strides from the Arsenal academy to the senior squad. Under Mikel Arteta, he has become a full-fledged England international, playing for his country at UEFA Euro 2020, missing the crucial penalty in the final against Italy.

Despite the heartbreak in July, Saka has come back stronger than ever and is on track to finish the season at a high level, possibly as Arsenal’s top scorer. The English forward has 11 goals and 6 assists in the Premier League this season and is beginning to attract interest from England’s biggest clubs.

Liverpool’s long-standing interest is well known to the media and there are reports of admiration from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. Manchester United are now listed as possible candidates for the English forward, who will enter the final two years of his current Arsenal deal.

Arsenal are eager to hand Saka a great new contract in the summer, as Arteta wants him in the team for years to come. The 20-year-old will command a huge salary, something the Gunners are open to keeping him on board. His future with the North Londoners may have also depended on that of the manager, which has basically been resolved.

Arteta signed a new contract this week, which could boost Arsenal’s chances of keeping young stars like Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. The signal from the England forward’s camp was positive, as the 20-year-old reportedly wants a stay at Arsenal.

Still, Manchester United and Manchester City are keen to take their chances by approaching Arsenal for the 20-year-old winger. The Red Devils would like to recruit young talents for the attacking unit to start their reign under Erik ten Hag.

Paying high transfer fees may not be a problem for Manchester United, but convincing Arsenal to let one of their best players go could be one. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has admired Saka for a while. The Manchester City boss will look to improve his squad in the summer as some current stars may leave. Raheem Sterling is one of those who could leave after a few months of uncertainty.

The England international still has a one-year contract and could leave on a free transfer in 2023. That is why Guardiola wants Saka to replace him at Manchester City. With Arsenal on the rise, the Gunners know how important it is to keep players like Saka. It is highly unlikely that Arsenal will approach the 20-year-old, and they are confident that their attacker will stay longer.
