More Lake Country Power Problems Due to Osprey Nests on Lines – Kelowna News

Power off in Lake Country

The Lake Country power is out again.

More than 3,500 BC Hydro customers are without power on Thursday morning.

BC Hydro indicates that a crew is on the way. Images shared with Castanet by our readers show a burning nest, and Oceola Road is closed from Highway 97 to the roundabout at the top of the hill, except for locals.

Lake Country has experienced frequent power outages over the past week.

“It’s osprey nests that have caused a lot of damage to the lines,” explains Dave Cooper of BC Hydro. “On Friday, one of them caused a fire and a pole actually had to be replaced due to a fire.”
