Optical illusions are created to make you question reality. Your eyes see one thing and your brain deciphers it like another, but it’s very difficult to decipher some optical illusions.
Take this GIF with a spinning woman for example. The illusion has divided the internet, some say it spins clockwise and others say it moves counterclockwise.
Optical illusion of a spinning woman
Also known as the Silhouette Illusion, it was originally released in 2003 as a GIF animation of a dancing dancer.
Created by Japanese web designer Nobuyuki Kayahara, the optical illusion works by using movement to stimulate your brain.
Some people see the figure turning clockwise, while others see it moving counterclockwise.
Interestingly, some people see the figure turn one way and then suddenly go the other wayaction.
Illusion of spinning women leaves people baffled
The insane brain teaser has confused people.
“I struggled quite a bit with it. It’s mind-boggling,” commented one user.
“If I close my eyes for a few seconds and imagine she’s spinning the other way, she’ll spin the other way,” said another user.
“Holy shit, this was so hard to do, but it’s so epic,” commented a third user.
A similar optical illusion of a spinning cat had also gone viral.
The venom showed black feline against a white background. The more intriguing part is that you can spin it in both directions with your mind, if the TikTok user who let go of the illusion is to be believed.
We’re just as confused as you. But here’s how it really works. Lexi Natoli shared the video on her @yolkfather account, saying, “You can change this optical illusion with your mind.”
“At first it looks like the cat is only spinning in one direction, but if you look at it long enough, you can make the cat change direction with your mind,” she said.
