OTTAWA EMPLOYMENT: The unemployment rate drops to 4.6 percent in April

A wave of new jobs in the capital brought the region’s unemployment rate down to 4.6 percent in April.

The comparison with 4.9 percent in March and 6.8 percent in April 2021.

The region added a net 18,000 new jobs in April, while the labor force grew by 15,700.

It is the first time the number of jobs – 795,500 – has exceeded the pre-pandemic peak.
