Ottawa man charged after altercation with city worker

East Algoma OPP has charged an Ottawa man after an altercation with a city employee at a municipal building on Causley Street in Blind River.

Constable Bev Gauthier says around 8am on Monday morning, the council worker arrived on the scene and found that someone had set up a campsite on the council property next to the local information office.

She says that when the employee asked him to leave, he refused and the police were called.

Gauthier says the man refused to leave when asked by police and arrested and charged with mischief, obstruction of a peace officer and trespassing.

She adds that the man is due to appear in court in Elliot Lake on July 7.
