R. Kelly Debates As Hit-Maker Amid New Kendrick Lyrics

R. Kelly‘s legacy is hotly debated amid new Kendrick Lamar lyrics touching on the now disgraced/condemned R&B legend — the question is… did he make good music ???

That’s what Twitter is now arguing about after someone apparently commented on one of Kenny’s new songs on his album, “Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers’, in which he suggests that his SO hypocritical is still listening to Kelly’s music – despite, well, everything.

Here’s Thursday’s original tweet that kicked off this whole convo — the user writes: “I wish you guys would stop saying everyone secretly listens to R. Kelly music, no we don’t I promise you that the music isn’t that good.”

They added… “And if you have to listen to it in secret, that means you know it’s wrong, so where do we go from here.”

The song apparently referenced is “We Cry Together”, which features: Taylor Paige in a heated rap argument with Kendrick. At one point she says… “You’re the reason Harvey Weinstein had to see his conclusion // You’re the reason R. Kelly can’t recognize he’s being abusive.”

To that, Ken responds in the song… “Man, shut the f*** up, we all know you still playin’ his music // Said I’m tired of these emotional, ungrateful bitches // Fake innocent, fake feminist , stop pretending // Your sentiments are not more real than what you defend.”

Back to the tweet… loads of people responded by saying it’s absurd to deny that R. Kelly made “good” music — frankly, the guy has the accolades and the writer/production credits to put it objectively. prove. Fact is, yes — R. Kelly was without a doubt a bona fide hitmaker.

There’s no shortage of stars he’s written/produced for and/or with (or in many cases all 3) — the list includes names like Aaliyah† B2K† diddy† Toni Braxton† Lady Gaga† Sparkle† Maxwell† MICHAEL JACKSON† Nick Cannon† Ginuwine† The Isley Bros† WHITNEY HOUSTON† guard† Chris Brown† Jennifer Hudson† pit bull† Justin Bieber … and much more.

Of course, this doesn’t even touch his own personal list of hits that were hugely popular when they were released — not least “Ignition (Remix), “Bump n’ Grind,” “Step in the Name of Love,” “I believe I can fly” and countless others.

What this seems to come down to is … can two things be true at once, and more importantly — can we separate the art from the artist? If so, no one can argue that R. Kelly didn’t make good music in his heyday…and yes, he has terrible things done†
