Sync page tabs between Google Chrome, Firefox and Edge

Some browsers have built-in sync options that allow users to sync tabs and bookmarks with the same browsers installed on different devices. However, those built-in sync options are not very helpful for users who use alternative browsers on different PCs. For example, you can’t sync page tabs open in Chrome to Edge by selecting the sync setting in Google’s flagship browser.

Tab Session Manager is a Chrome, Firefox and Edge extension that allows users to sync saved tab groups between those browsers. This is how you can sync tabs open in one browser to another using Tab Session Manager.

How to add Tab Session Manager to your browser

You can add Tab Session Manager to Chrome, Firefox, and Edge from that extension’s pages on Microsoft’s websites, Chrome Web Store, and Firefox Browser Add-ons. Click one of the Tab Session Manager links below to open the download page for your browser. Then press the Add to or To get buttons for the extension on those pages.

You can also add Google Chrome extensions to other Chromium-based browsers. Therefore, Tab Session Manager Chrome extension is compatible with Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi. Opera has an Install Chrome Extensions add-on that allows you to install Chrome extensions in that browser.

Save tab sessions in a browser

Once you have added Tab Session Manager to a browser, you must first save a tab session to sync. A tab session is any number of web pages open in your browser at any one time. To save Tab Sessions, launch the browser to which you added Tab Session Manager. Then open a group of page tabs to save in the browser.

Then click on the Session Manager Tab button on your browser’s URL toolbar. You have to click on the Extensions button in Chrome and Edge to select that add-on.

Your open tabs are saved with the name of the selected page in your browser unless you change it. Click in the text box at the bottom of the extension to enter a different name for the tab session. Then press the Save button below. A green session saved notifier will then flash briefly.

You can manually save any number of different page groups using Tab Session Manager. Double click on any of the saved tab groups displayed in the extension to reopen all pages containing them in your browser. Once you’ve configured the extension to sync them, you can access those saved browser sessions and access them in other browsers.

Synchronize tab sessions between browsers

Tab Session Manager syncs saved tab sessions between browsers by backing them up to Google Drive. So you need a Google account to sync the data. If you don’t have such an account, you can create one by clicking create an account on the Google login page.

If you’ve set up an account, you’ll also need to enable cloud sync in Tab Session Manager as follows:

Open the Tab Session Manager extension before clicking the Settings button in the top right corner of the extension.

Select the Save device name in session option. Once you’ve done that, enter your browser’s title in the Device name box so that you can better identify the saved tab sessions.

Scroll down to the Enable Cloud Sync (Beta) option on the Settings tab.

press the Sign in with Google button and select the Allow option for requested permissions. After that, enter the required credentials for your Google account.

After completing the above steps, click Allow to grant Google Drive permissions. As an optional step, you can use the Auto sync check box under the Enable cloud sync option. If you select that option, sessions will be synced automatically.

After following the above, click on the Session Manager Tab extension again on the URL toolbar. Then press the Cloud Sync button shown directly below.

Now you have synced the tab sessions from one browser. You will need to repeat all the above steps for another web browser that you want to sync the page tabs with. You can then open the same saved tab sessions in both browsers.

Sync saved tab sessions between browsers with Tab Session Manager

Tab Session Manager makes your browsing sessions easily accessible across browsers. With Tab Session Manager synchronization enabled, you can save and quickly reopen the same group of pages you viewed in one web browser in another.

Such synchronization can be useful for users who use alternative Edge, Firefox and Chrome browsers on multiple PCs.
