The Book of Madison Couples Offers Great Hikes on the Appalachian Trail

HOT SPRINGS – Teamwork made the dream work for a local couple.

Sodom Laurel residents Amber and Joshua Niven recently joined forces to combine their love of art and hiking to work on a book together.

The work, “Discovering the Appalachian Trail: A Guide to the Trail’s Greatest Hikes” was published June 1 by Falcon Guides. On August 13, the couple will celebrate the book’s release at Hot Springs’ Big Pillow Brewery.

“Discovering the Appalachian Trail” is Amber Niven’s first book and is a guidebook to 30 of the couple’s favorite hikes along the trail, which spans 14 states.

“These are big things. It’s still pretty surreal,” Niven said. “It’s an incredible opportunity.

“It’s a guide. Its core focuses on 30 of the best hikes on the AT.”
