Toronto shooting leaves man dead, another seriously injured

One man is dead and another is in hospital after a shooting in northern Etobicoke Saturday afternoon.

Toronto police were called to a complex near Mount Olive Drive and Kipling Avenue just before 6 p.m. due to reports of gunfire.

insp. Scott Purches said officers arrived at the scene and found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was rushed to a local trauma center where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Homicide Division has taken over the investigation.

“At the moment we have few details. Investigators are working on the scene here, as well as the homicide department to collect as much evidence as possible,” Purches said.

He added that another man with gunshot wounds was found at a nearby community center.

Toronto paramedics said he was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries.

Police are asking those who have information that could help determine what happened to contact detectives.

“It was a warm evening. This is a daytime shooting that happened again just before 6pm with some people in the area,” Purches said.
