Windows 11 Amazon Appstore is coming to 5 new countries

Since early 2022, more Android apps have come to Windows 11 through the Amazon Appstore preview. This app marketplace allows Windows 11 users to experience Android apps right from their PC. Now that functionality of Windows 11 is expanding to five new countries.

While we are all familiar with the Google Play Store, you may be less familiar with the marketplace on Windows 11 with Android apps. That marketplace is the Amazon Appstore and there are over 1,000 Android apps available to play and use on Windows 11 machines. Downloading Android apps on Windows computers is surprisingly quite simple and easy to do, making it a cool new feature of Microsoft’s latest operating system.

A major drawback of this service was its availability. Since the Amazon Appstore was a newcomer to Windows, when it launched in a limited capacity, it was only available to those in the United States. That now seems to be changing as Microsoft extends support for the Amazon Appstore to several new regions. In a blog post, the company announced that the Amazon Appstore preview would be expanded to five new countries in particular:

  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • United Kingdom

This new support does not have a definitive release date by region. Microsoft only announced that these countries would be available “by the end of the year”.

It’s important to keep in mind that Windows 11 is still relatively young and has a lot of quirks that need fixing, although most of them have been fixed at this point. In addition, the Amazon Appstore is still in the “preview” phase, which means that the program is not complete in any capacity. We hope that more regions will receive support from the Amazon Appstore and that more Android apps will come to the Windows 11 marketplace.
